I am a search engine optimizer myself.

I have optimized a site with relevant keywords and doorways pages, etc necessary. I is listed in the DMOZ directory in a proper category. I have known that if a site is listed in DMOZ directory, then it will surely be in the GOOGLE directory too. I have seen this with most of the sites.

But this site is not listed in goole directory although it is in DMOZ directory. Due to this google results does not show a proper description of my site when searched by user like the title, date. Just shows the cache link. Also, i have put proper meta tags. Then too, my site does not list up any where on google , when such keywords are typed. ( not even in 1st 250).

Pls check this problem and advice me a solution.

Rgds,
Sumit Shah.

"doorways pages"

How many doorway pages are we talking about here? I'd look into whether your site conforms to google's webmaster guidelines (http://www.google.com/webmasters/) before anything else

The Google directory has not been updated for a number of months. It is currently showing the category only for some of the ODP listings.

I have successfully used the standard optimisation techniques and been listed [added - for all pages on site in standard Google SE - often serp no.1 posn] in less than a week. Have a look at: [searchengineworld.com...]

Each page should be considered a "doorway". So have lots of fully optimised information filled pages.
[added to clarify if clarification was needed]

Into the Google directory? Those must be some techniques.

Sorry t2dman, I didn't mean to make it sound like you gave bad advice. It will help solve his/her problems, it just won't get him into the directory any faster. I see now that was not the meaning of that part of your post.:)

With or without some heavy PRX backup fire to start with? :)
