Sites on Same IP (PLZ HELP)

I have 2 questions plz answer them in detail i mean in a laymans language as i am new to this IPs & Servers :-

1) How to find if all the sites are on same IP i mean sites hosted on the same server and sharing same IP.
who do we do that?

I think which is not good specilly when u want to promote ur site on search engines.

2) What we need to do if u want to host all ur sites on same server but have different IP's i mean unique IP's even though they are on the same server.

i think which is good for search engines...

and plz if u have any such link where i will understand all this things about IP's and Server ... plz tell me

Try pinging the different domains. If you ping abc.com and xyz.com and they come back with the same IP address, then they're being shared.

I'd go to netcraft [netcraft.com] and play around with their tools. This answers some basic questions about servers and ips. To remote lookup all sites that are hosted under a ip, you should use a whois tool [google.com]. There are some good whois sites out there that offer a lot of online lookup, dns, ip, domain tools.

Then use google to find more info. ;)

1) chameleon is correct. You can ping the differnt domain names to see if they are on the same IP number and being virtually hosted.

you can do this by executing the ping command. Lets assume that your two domains are www.somedomain.com and www.anotherdomain.com. Then from a windows command promt ( or unix for that matter ) type

ping www.anotherdomain.com
ping www.somedomain.com

The out put should be something like this.
C:\>ping www.google.com

Pinging www.google.com [216.239.41.99] with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 216.239.41.99: bytes=32 time=70ms TTL=49
Reply from 216.239.41.99: bytes=32 time=60ms TTL=49
Reply from 216.239.41.99: bytes=32 time=70ms TTL=49

2) It is a common believe that virutal hosting, hosting two or more different domains on the same IP, has no real problems. I host many domains virutally, stacked onto one IP, and have seen no problems. Take a look at

need to ping the sites to see if they are on same IP.

like for
www.mydomain.com 201.33.22.16
www.yourdomain.com 201.98.34.12

is this the example of sites in same IP as the first number 201 is common here .......... or what?

plz let me also the difference between shared IP and dedicated IP in detail plzzzzzzzzz

so that next time i ping any domain i should be able to know what kind of hosting it is?

If those two numbers are the results of your pings, they your two sites are on differnt IPs. Different numbers, different IPs.

I would strongly advise starting to use google and this forum to help you find out definitions of what Ip numbers are all about. If you are going to be a strong SEO, then it takes lots and lots of work. You should learn how to dig up information on the basics, then use webmasterworld to help refine the fine points.

Spend more time making a better site. I know guys that are the top of the serps for 25 different sites. They are all on the same ip. The same IP has nothing to do with anything. There is no proof that it does. There are much more important things you can do with your time to be on top of the SERPS.
