Google France News has pagerank 3 and 7 backlinks after being one day online. Is Google giving his own sites a special treatment?

Until today they were showing the US version of Google News at news.google.fr so the page was already live for some time. What is different is that it now contains news in french. As for the backlinks, AllTheWeb shows 15 external links and Inktomi 7. So why shouldn't Google show some? At this moment Google also shows 4 backlinks for news.google.it (Italy) and 1 backlink for news.google.nl (Netherlands) although these still have the US version of Google News.
