As valuable as <a>?

I'm doing some SEO on a site I didn't design.

The major links on the site use the folowing format for linking:

<td onclick='window.navigate(&quot;page.asp&quot;)'

Google has found and followed these links, but my question is will the text of the <td> still count as link text?

And will the PR benefit be the same (it seems to be): PR5 homepage, PR4 for the JavaScript linked pages.

Other info:
I am fully aware of the Accessibility issues here.
The pages are not linked using <a> from anywhere on the site.
The JS linking pages show up in back links.

Cheers,
Nigel

Interesting - so that type of javascript link will be followed & pass on PageRank. I guess it makes sense, from what I've seen / read in the past, Google will do *something* with just about any http://www. formated .com/ hyperlink.

Especially in this case, since it's fairly close to regular syntax. Nice case study, thanks for sharing!

Notice that there was no http:// in this, not even a slash, just the page name, asp too.

Cheers,
