I have optimized and massaged my site to where I believe we should be listed in the search engines pretty decently. The site specifically targets 4 keywords. It has been coming up to 3 months now and I have yet to see any listings for the work I've done.
My question is.. do search engines frown on LONG domain names? Is there a limit? Do they simply stop after a certain numger of digits?
I am posting this on the google page because google is the most important to my employer. Thanks in advance for any replies you all can provide me with.

wonderful-blue-widgets-real-cheap.com matches the keywords "wonderful", "blue", etc.
wonderful_blue_widgets_real_cheap.com matches the single non-keyword "wonderful_blue_widgets_real_cheap".
Also, there a over 100 factors that affect your placement in the search results. No single factor alone will get you placed high.

Three months is not very long in the grand scheme of things in Google. Right now, it can take 4+ months to begin ranking well for your targeted keywords. Patience is needed, because it might take another one, two or three updates to see the full results of your work, particularly for backlinks.
Are you getting hit by Googlebot? Are you coming up in searches at all (try searching for a unique phrase on your main page - if your site comes up in Google, it means it knows you are there and are being indexed).
Domain length shouldn't be an issue - there are many domains which are much, much longer than yours that utilize keywords in the name, and they are ranking very well for very competitive keywords.
The underscore is not legal in domain names.
