Some people prefer example.com site:example.com, but I prefer -MadeUpWord site:example.com (where MadeUpWord is guaranteed not to be on any of your pages, or any of the links to your pages).

By the way, a lot of questions have come up before. eg. "how many pages" [google.com]

Googleguy was nice enough to provide this google query (sort of like the "links:" query) that shows exactly what Google has indexed of your site (in my case- one page.....)

site:yourdomain.org -qwerrew

site:www.domain.com inurl:domain.com

That should pull everything.

the allinurl command will show any references to yourdomain

eg allinurl:widgets.com would show results for www.red.com/widgets you need to use the site: command with allinurl

eg. allinurl:www.yourdomain.com site:yourdomain.com

No, it will show only the pages of your domain which have been indexed when using it this way:

allinurl:www.yourdomain.com

johno is right.

Try for example allinurl:www.google.com. You will find pages of the following type:

- www.domain.com/abc/ (It seems that the allinurl command doesn't work as described by Google: 'Google will restrict the results to those with all of the query words in the url.')

Therefore, you shoud use the site command (plus 'domain', '-MadeUpWord' or 'allinurl:www.domain.com').

It doesn't show exactly what Google has in its index. For my domain it's "about 481" pages.

indeed johno is right, I'm sorry.
Until today I tried it only with my own domain and there it works perfectly. But when searching for www.google.com it gives results which do not even contain the word "google" ind the URL, but on the page body text. When I search for allinurl i expect to get results in which www.google.com is contained in the URL.

I don't understand the logic behind that query.

What about Google's own free tool?
