Something new has happened at my site

I have been lurking here for some time but felt I should join to report something new that has happened on my Web statistics which are produced for me by my ISP using Webalizer.

I have only been at the ISP for four months with a website to port and the new statistics provided to understand.

This month I have had crawler 10/11/12 and crawl 32/34 visiting as Google slowly indexes my 300+ files. But what has happened in the past few days is what I am reporting because it is so unusual and might tie in with Google's changes:

In the Sites I am getting the single word highlighted: Googlbot

In the Referrers I am getting the single words highlighted Google and Yahoo!

It is the same old googlebot that is visiting apparently.
And the same old google and yahoo searches in my referrers. But these single line, single word, entries are something I have never seen before so I thought them worth reporting for comment. Sorry to be so verbose.

typo: In the Sites it is Googlebot

And the total number of hits is greater than the individual number from Google/Yahoo!

Sorry but I don't understand what you are saying. Would it be possible to put the full entry here but replace personal info with "domain.com"?

Sorry Clark, it is difficult to explain. But in my July statistics generated by my ISP using Webaliser I have:

In my list of visits from Sites I am given the top 30 of 953. One is 47 hits/ 43 files/ 249 Kbytes/ Googlebot

In my top 30 of 137 Total Referrers I have
128 hits/ Google
70 hits/ Yahoo!

I am used to the normal visits from crawler 10/11/12 and very recently crawl 32/34 but the above is totally new to me and with Google's state of flux I wondered if this was important. I have asked at my ISP if their Webaliser program has been recently upgraded which might be an alternative explanation.

Now I have to go and run my Norton software. Cheers.

I get the same thing with Webalizer run by my host - and I don't know what's changed either. It only happens for the current month.

Under referrers, I get normal results like:

[search.msn.com...]
[google.co.uk...]

etc.

but now there is an entry which is just Google in bold, rather than a URL, which is the most common referrer from the www.google.com domain.

It just sounds like your ISP has changed his webalizer.conf file a bit. A line like

GroupReferrer [google.com...] Google

will produce what you are describing.

Nobody at my ISP has confirmed that the webaliser.conf file
was altered but it is the obvious conclusion so case closed. Sorry for raising a red herring.
