Dear all,

I created a new homepage using a made up word for the domain (combined 2 words into one).

If you do a search for "domain" (remove www. and .com)

It will show 2 URL's from my page as well as a couple incoming links.

But Google always show. Did you mean to search for ......

When will this stop? How many results I need to stop this? At current moment I am just over 100 results in Google but this is not enough yet.

Feedback is highly appreciated.

Did you mean: ths keyboard doesnt have ny vwls

Your search - ths keyboard doesnt have ny vwls - did not match any documents.

See....now you see why I hate the stupid function.

Nah, I disagree that it's a stupid function. I can't really judge how useful it is, but I think it's nice to have. And it's easy enough to ignore it.

Well it has a "W" so you must not be at the Whitehouse.

Then finally gave up. I just searched WWE anthology and it didn't say did you mean WWF anthology. I wonder how long until a search of WWF anthology would would bring the did you mean WWE anthology correction.

Another good example that supports the volume of searches theory. As time passed, the general public increasingly began to use the new acronym (WWE) - presumably this was also reflected in search queries. As the number for queries for WWE grew, the probability that it was entered in error lessened, until it surpassed a certain threshold, at which point the "did you mean" stopped showing.

I wonder what would happen if you repeatedly issued the same query many, many times -- it could be a way to 'turn off' the "did you mean" suggestion (though there may be IP address and other checks to circumvent this)

queries will not be related to this. I think that is a bridge too far.

It has to be with amount of content on the internet and links (anchor).

Anyway this spellchecker is worth investigation and it will be very nice to get some "inside" information from the googleplex (but they wont tell us).

Think about SARS (yes that scary desease that kept me home locked up on instant noodles and crackers for the last couple months).

I remembered there was also a spellchecker on that when I looked it up. (if I am not mistaken).

Well trust me....even without data from Google I can tell you that it was a topsearch for a while (and maybe still is).

I'm sure what point you are trying to make here, but this example only strengthens the 'volume of queries' theory. If you search for "SARS" now, you don't get a "did you mean" message. I am not sure when you looked it up, but perhaps it was before the volume of searches for "SARS" had risen to the point that it is no longer considered a potential error.
