GoGuides.org & Google

Does a GoGuides link really count for Google

Hi,

I have read several goguides threads on this subject which generally suggest that goguides is indexed by google and therefore getting a goguides link will contribute toward increased google PR. My problem is this: I've searched google for backward links to several sites listed in my category onn goguides. None of these searches returned any goguides links.

So, do Goguides links help PR or not?

Thanks

Yes, but...

... the front page of GoGuides has a PR of 6, so in all probability the deep page where your site is indexed wall be below PR3.

Check the GoGuides page with your site on to find out

Yes, mine recently fell below the PR threshhold.
On the other hand. They have moved their site out of frames, added WAAAAY more listings, and are doing a pretty darned good job. If only they would send the occasional referral I would think they were going somewhere. I would dearly love to see them succeed so I linked to them. You should too.;)

As long as it's a straight link (From what i can remember they used to use a tracking url) it should count, i think GoGuides is worth it if you can get a link from it.
And you might want to try out the link commando at Alltheweb.com to see the inbound link if Google filters it due to PageRank.

The goguides page which would hold my link has PR5. But none of the links on this goguides page shows up in a google backlink search.

Go Guides uses straight html links, no tracking scripts. The PR to be gained is not much, better to think of it in terms of on-topic page title and surrounding text.

Go Guides has also recently added many new pages. My Go Guides link always showed up but doesn't now because (I'm guessing) the page is a post April 15th one where Google hasn't given it a page rank yet.

For newer sites it helps if you want to get a quick link up before a deep crawl for instance. I pay the $39.99 and they usually put it up same day so I've been recommending them to my clientele.

Yes, Google does count GoGuides links. I just found a couple goguides.org backlinks listed.
