Does Google penalize sites for being on a particular server? For example, if a server hosts sites that Google doesn't like, will the pagerank of another relevant and highly linked site that is virtually hosted on that server be lower?
This may not be the case in general, but how do I know if Google has discounted a particular IP address?
Thanks, zylstra

No...doesn't make sense to do that, does it?

maybe not according to GoogleGuy either although he was talking about automated search enquiries.
I cannot be sure but there are 50 sites hosted in my server and they show different PR (most PR0)

The best theory I heard is google penalizes virtual domains in this manner - all things being equal the site with it's own IP will rank higher than one on a virtual domain. Personally I do not think google cares if a site is on a virtual domain or it has its own IP. I also have many virtual domains so I am a little biased.
