My site's index page went from pr7 to pr0 seven days ago, and has subsequently dropped from top 3 ranking to # 81 for my main key phrase. Nothing spammy, never has been. Nothing has been changed on the index page for 2 months.

However, the sub-pages all have PR5's and PR6's.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Check out [webmasterworld.com...]
it may be related... I had something similar happen dropping from #2 to 40+ and back again... but I beileve my PR stayed the same.

Remain calm on the PR issue. The toolbar PR has been useless for 75 + days now.

I noticed the same thing. Try the following this sometimes makes the toolbar show the proper pr. When you visit your home page say www.mysite.com change the URL to www.mysite.com/index.html suddenly the pr should re-appear.
If this doesn't work, check your home page in Google's directory (works only if you are listed in DMOZ).

I have a similar 'problem' on my website but it doesnt affect the SERP.

My fontpage is:
www.mydomain.com/ or www.mydomain.com/main.php3

Sometimes the first URL has grey PR and sometimes the second URL has grey PR bar wile the other URL has PR5.

Look like Google sometimes think it's a duplicate page and grey it out. Maybe because I don't use the standard default URL of index.htm or index.php

Subpages still have PR3 or PR4 at all times.

also, I found this works:

www.domain.com/
to
www.domain.com

(i.e. remove the trailing /)

Mine is very strange. When I click on my listing in Google Search (# 81 for key phrase, previously # 3), I have a grey bar. However, when I type in the exact same address in Internet Explorer, I'm PR7 again.

All part of a conspiracy to throw SEO's off the PR trail once and for all ;)
