Poor Rankings in Spanish Search

Different results in web search and spanish search

I have an info site it is performing quite well for keword1-anyrelatedkeyword SERPs, either in the web or in spanish, I have work to get top results for keyword1 SERPs but I find my site #40 when searching the web (a non very competive area just 800K results)and #21 when searching in spanish (50K results). In spite I am the first spanish page when you are searching the web and far before the second one it is #100 and the page is in english.

In the web results the page is www.domain.com and in spanish is an inner page.

Any idea why my home page is performing quite well when you search the web and so poorly when the search is in spanish.

My site has PR 5 and all competitors have same or lower PR, web is optimized for title, h1 and allinachor

My site is a Spanish info site and not interested in visits from not spanish speakers.

Have you defined the language in your head tag:

for instance:

<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="es-mx">

Also, try to get anchor links from sites like this

<a href="http://www.dominio.com/">su palabra clave</a>.

That will help you a lot in the long run.

Also get the site listed in the Espanol.Yahoo.com and the Dmoz regional appropriate to your site.

I have nothing but really great results for my sites in Spanish with minimal effort.

language is defined, I got dmoz and google directory listings last month and I have <a href="http://www.dominio.com/">keyword1</a> links on-page and outpage links, the problem is home page is not listed in spanish and it is listed in the web search results, if home page get listed in spanish for sure will be #1.

My site is #1 for main keywords on spanish search, I hope this stay for long and not only with the fresh tag of June 7th.

It is the first time my index page has reapeared from nowhere in the index along these two months, I hope all these movements finish soon.

Maybe there is not semy-penalty or broken things just it is taking a little longer to Google to switch from google dance to more continous updates index.
