Doorways...Gateways...Yada-Yada.....

Where to start....?

Can anyone provide me with some assistance in creating doorway pages for my website? I'm quite the newb and I want to make sure that I optimize legitimately. What we're considering is 3 or 4 doorway pages with short articles on each page describing a specific product line and listing the competitive advantages of each line. Each page would link back to our home page, and to the other doorway pages. In turn, we would put links on our home page to the doorways, denoting each as a product article.

The questions I have are pretty basic....
1) Do we need to do more than this to impact the SER's?
2) Do I need to put these pages anywhere specific on our server, or is just dropping them in the public_html folder (as product1.html, product2.html, etc.)adequate?
3) Should I put the meta keywords on each doorway page (or on all of our pages for that matter), or just our home page?
4) would making all of the keywords in the article of the doorway pages into links help our SER's?
5) Anything else I need be concerned with.....?
