why is hotmail ranking for so many keywords

Yes. It's ranking for some gambling-related search terms, with some very high positions. Crazy situation and a further indication that Google is now serving some seriously flawed results to real users.

xhttp://www.[bleeeep!].com may be the cause of the gambling related terms popping up. They are hotmail ya know. Google says so. Even have a PR8 and links like Hotmail.

If you check the cached version of the page it shows hotmail!

It also has the 30,100 hotmail links credited..

And even more strange is when you click "related", it shows 3 page list of major online companies such as: aol, mail.com, geocities, rocketmail, bigfoot etc...

Search for internet cleanup and the very first site is a 404 error page :)

I bet it is because so many Spammers use "Casino" as / in their name and a false hotmail address for their email. Some guestbooks will then show their "name" Casino with a link to a hotmail.com address.

Another fine example of the present algo. As in "Oh look, there's a pinch of salt! I better add it to my Google search results!"

Still i am curious why would a cached page of that casino site shows hotmail sign-in error page? And is it a google algo mishap or something related to the site?

Judging by those 30,000 backlinks, I'd say it's a mishap. Lots of them are pages that don't have banners, and wouldn't link to casino sites, but do happen to link to Hotmail.

well .. it's still happening and it's hotmail.com itself that is ranking, not some other site/mirror or whatever. is it ok for me to suggest a keyword that people can search for to see it for themself? not sure if this is allowed here and i've been hearing talk of members being banned and blah.

You can always take the quick 3 steps high page rank method if you don't like the 26 steps one.

1. Delegate your domain to a hotmail IP address
2. Let google pick it up
3. re-delegate it back to your IP

There are a few threds that claim that sharing an IP can have certain effects - eg: [webmasterworld.com...]
