Odd that Indian is the only non english country included until now - maybe there is someone in the google news team with an Indian background....
That's Krishna Bharat. He was the one that started the whole project.
.. he was frustrated by the time it took to search for news of one's interest and decided to write a programme that would automate the process. Though created for his personal use, news of the software leaked to colleagues at Google - and soon the management decided to try it out on a big scale.(source Indian brain behind world's first`automated' news site [hinduonnet.com])

BTW, didn't see any German news so far from this PC in Japan.
The url that palace4all gave works for me but I won't think it's strange when this URL don't work too anymore in a while. Guess we'll just have to wait till the testing is over...
India has more English-speakers than almost any "English-speaking" country.
I've heard it rated the second largest English-speaking country after the USA.
I would not be surprised if India has the largest english speaking population. The reporting from there is so skewed that the actual numbers from there take a few decades to get reported. In a recent trip to India, I was surprised that I found no soul who does not speak English. And I dealt with a wide spectrum of people from office boys, bartenders, servants to CEO level. This was a quite a contrast to my experience in India a few years back when it was common to find people who does not understand English. A lot changed in India for good in the last few years is what I came back with ..
The above is more significant when you compare it to the fact, I could easily find several spanish or other language speaking people in the US who does not understand A B C of English!
Great url hacking@!
I really got exited to find out that google news in Dutch also was already partially translated:
[news.google.nl...]
It probably won't mean as much as the german version, logo's were not available and I think we still have to wait a bit in the Netherlands... :-)
