Why isn't a date shown by some results in Google?

Dates are only on "fresh" listings. Do a site search [webmasterworld.com] for freshbot or something similar. Or, see the Google Knowledge Base on this site. The site search is definately your friend!

Right, let me ask Richie's question differently as I posted a thread with this question which never was allowed to appear

For a particular phrase/keyword, despite ALL sites changes in the first page so often as all we know, the very first and very second listed websites NEVER EVER changed. They are always these two in these positions.

Now, what is funny is that the above is happening right from Dominic and right from back there these two sites NEVER EVER showed a fresh date.
Do yours guys can find any explanation to this or is this just a coincidence

Note that both pages were NOWHERE prior to Dominic

Thanks

It should also be noted that if the pages has a Google no-cache tag then the fresh date does not show either, which I humbly think is wrong of Google.

Just to add a note on this date thing...

Some appears without a fresh date in the serp but when you do a backlink check it would show a fresh date on it. On some cases but not all of them.
