Is my site banned?

Index page greybarred now, but sub pages PR6.

I have had a site for over a year now. To be honest it is similar to another site i have near it in the top ten for a popular search term.

It has just today acquired a grey bar for the index page, although the sub pages are all ok. It still shows up in the top ten search results.

Is it banned? If so is it just the index page, or is it the whole site?

a ban will normally take the whole site out, a penalty will take individual pages...

it is most likely, unless you were being naughty - that this is all part of the funny muddle we all love so much - google - dont worry, and leave it for a few days...you'll find it will probably be back higher than where you lost it... :)

good luck!

hi netnerd,

My sites are showing similar traits. It will settle down over the next few days and you will get your pr back on the index.

Don't worry about the PR, Google is doing funnythings nowdays. More and more PR 0 pages (and greybar pages) are ranking well in the index so hopefully the whole PR concept will be history soon.

If your position on the SERPs are falling then you should worry.

Good luck.

I am not so sure Google is dropping PR. I think what is hapenning is that with "deep crawl bot" MIA freshbot does not do quite as deep a crawl and a lot of links pages - especially dynamic pages - are not getting found.
On a site I have the PR dropped 1 pt and the links in are showing about 1/2 of what they used to be. As it did not have a huge amount to start with, I think this is just freshbot missing links deep crawl bot used to find.
Obviously if you have 10,000 links in you can drop some and not experience any PR change; for sites with less than 100 it can have an effect.
I think the whole "semi-penalty" thing on other threads is just a misunderstanding of this phenonema - your links don't get found, your PR drops, hopefully temporarily.

I've got PR5 index and PR0 all the other 40 pages.
Last week all PR3.
Very strange.

in my site all the urls but one are correctly crawled. my index ( index.php ) is frecuently visited by Googlebot but i cannot understand why all this ones are NEVER crawled:

- index.php?id=1
- index.php?id=2
- index.php?id=... (etc)

something can be wrong with querystring? it is correctly linked from index.php as it is a weblog and that are the news.

i have been in this situation for 6 months now. :(

any hint?
