Hi Everybody,

Does Google give different treatment with pornographic sites.
what if the product is related to *** toys, but the content is not porno?

I have a declaration on my web site that I do not optimize pornographic web sites. But I have been approched by a web master who says that his site is not pornographic in nature, but the product is *** toy.

I have never worked for a site that has a adult product. Frankly I do not know whether sites of pornographic nature are treated same way by Google like any other normal sites or are treated in some other manner. Please advise.

I have both adult and non-adult sites, and as far as I can tell, they're treated equally. The competition is more difficult in the adult area though because it's harder to get good backlinks...plus, there's the pesky cloaking problem of competitors. Nothing insurmountable though.

I too run both types of types of sites, A and non-A. I agree with AAnnAArchy, Google treats both types the same. I also agree with AAnnAArchy in that it is very competative, and very very difficult to get good back links. Most of the high PR sites do not give links and most of the sites that freely give links are not worth their salt. I work my butt off on one site just to keep a PR 3.

A PR3 is not that bad. The big ones are getting PR6. You can optimize using the same rules for general sites (H1, good titles, etc). Making the site clean also makes other people linking to you. Following those rules I made a PR5 - it was PR2 before I started reading here :)

I have a site that deals with the same type of products.
I have not noticed any difference in the way google treats that site.

Having both types of sites, I can say this:

PR is a little different on adult sites - there are almost no adult sites with PR higher than about 6 - RARE 7s. That is almost as rare as PR10 sites in regular sites. In this respect, Google does treat adult stuff a little differently, in that the measurement of PR does not align itself well with the traffic flows and operations of adult websites. Concepts like CJ, feeder sites, personal link sites, site guides, and exit consoles all seem to play against Googlebot's view of the world.

As a result, PR3 is about a PR5 in the real world, if you like. If you have PR3, your are doing fairly good.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is actually a small auto penalty, since authority PR is generated on most sites from DMOZ (generally). The root category of the adult side of DMOZ starts at PR7 wheras if you were in the travel or rec category on the mainstream side you would have to be 3 cats deep before you got to a PR7 category.
Now I know that you can get higher authoritative links and some have, but its tough to get to that point. (Im disregarding the exp DMOZ domain issue)
