The trouble started when investigating similar pages on my site last friday I found a suspicious link and clicked on it. Immediately the google ranking changed. Since then my index page has been excluded from top ten. I agree there is a problem that needs to be resolved with who has choosen to link to our site and I am also anxious to prevent offending page but some help and advice from google would be appreciated. Some common sense from google should prevail, I don't believe they would treat INC. in same way.

Are you banned (not showing in the index at all), or have you simply dropped in ranking? There is a huge difference.

Go to Google and adjust your preferences so that it shows "No filtering." Then try your searches again. If you show up in the rankings, then it would seem google thinks you're related to porn and is filtering you out.

If you still don't show up, then it's not related to porn.

Also, it's well known that WHO links to you will not hurt you.

You are not likely banned, especially if you have not practiced any shady seo, etc.

There is an exception I think to the rule of who links to you not counting. I don't know if it was the only time ever, but one of my sites was definitely penalized by having a link from Search King.

We deserved it as much as anyone, but what really blew was that once we saw that it was probably going to be a problem, we cancelled. The link stayed on their site for 3 months after that, and we got blown away.

As a general rule, though, if someone just links to you, even pornsters I'd imagine, it won't be a problem.

hi
Thanks for replys, The index page has dropped PR to greyed out but subpages are ranking ok.
This happened instantly after clicking the porn listing in google similar pages.
This means we are out of top ten, before this we were in top five for all key phrases.

plenty of posts from webmasters around here about index pages being "lost". Your problem may be related to theirs.
