Googlebot loves images over the last day

Has anyone else had googlebot go after images only in the last 24. The same image many many many times. But also a great variety of images. Weird weird weird...

Hey Clark,

Is this Googlebot or googlebot-image. If it's googlebot-image it makes some sense, don't know the last time it's been out and about but I think it's been awhile. Always seem to draw a lot of interest when it does. G uses it for its Image Search database.

Also, can't find the Googlebot IPs just now but it might pay to make sure that this isn't somebody spoofing the UA.

I noticed this too, and it was Googlebot.

We've been seeing the same thing for a few months now:

64.68.86.* - GET /image.jpg 404 Googlebot/2.1+(+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)
64.68.87.* - GET /image.gif 200 Googlebot/2.1+(+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)

Yep same here. Going crazy picking up pictures all over the place for the past 2 days now. No pages, just the pics.
