Is there anyway to go to the regular Google hompage instead of the Canadian page?

On the Bottom right it should say "Go to Google.com" click on that. Or type www.google.com I dont think it redirects you anymore.

Ya I know you can type the long url or click on the link but how do you stop it from doing that?

If you have your cookies turned on, once you hit the "Go to Google.com" it should then default you to the regular google.com page whenever you return, as long as you don't delete the cookie.

nirelan: Yes, doing what Jenstar said will keep Google.com as your default page. However, if you are wanting Google.com to check rankings as seen in the USA then you will have to make sure you are blocking your IP so you don't get fed the slightly different Canadian SERPs.

This can be done via Anonymizer (do a search for it) or other methods.

Set that URL as your home page, or take advantage of the "type-ahead" feature in the address bar, or simply bookmark it.

Actually, none of these ideas trully work. The version of Google seen in Canada is different then what you see in the US. The only way around this is to use a IP cloaking program like anonymizer. This will give you US search results.

I just noticed others wrote about this as well. oops!

or you can find an open public proxy in the states and surf through it. I have NN7 set up just for searching google.

Is it possible to set the news button on the Google toolbar to go to Canadian Google news?

With the new beta toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/index-beta ), you can set in your options to automatically search with google.ca. Then, when you hit the Google News button, it will automatically go to news.google.ca instead of the .com news site.

With the new beta toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/index-beta ), you can set in your options to automatically search with google.ca.

this is available from the "old" toolbar as well:

toolbar > google tab > toolbar options > search using (choose from drop down menu)

Just started using [www-sj.google.com...] it gives American SERPs from Canada. Handy for checking on your Google Adwords also if you're into that.. ;)
