Sorry about the title of this thread but I couldnt find a better one

Just curious about the following:
Just a week before Dominic update this two websites very related but not duplicated and both owned and webmastered by the same person did appear in position 1 and 2 for a medium competitive keyword (300.000 results).
Other than such keyword neither site practically appear in any relevant position at all

The funny thing is that both sites appeared with and old cache of say 3 or 4 month old at the time of Dominic.

That seemed strange at the time (before the old cached version just happened to so many people) specially since everyother site in that first page was fresh cached almost every day

Anyway, Dominic ended, cached are getting updated again and for a few days now with Esmeralda and all the sites at least in the first page are again being fresh cached update daily

YET, the above two websites still continuos first and second but they still continuos with the same cache of 3 or 4 months ago

What's more, I follow this very page practically everyday and these two sites has not been fresh cached even once since they appeared in these first two positions almost 2 months ago

I am not trying to find out if these sites are doing anything wrong etc, it just seems to me that this is very odd and I would love if somebody could shed some light on this

Thanks very much

Seems to me that whether a site gets freshbotted depends on whether it is linked to from sites that get freshbotted, and whether the content on the site changes at all.

From what you have said, the sites' content isn't changing very much over the last few months.

well, no to say that you are wrong but it so happens that the links to his sites are practically the same links to my site as he seems to have requested link exchange with all my link partners

Also, if somebody is not making any changes to his site content this is myself which I think I have not changed it for months and months yet I get freshbooted very very very often so I suspect your explanation above may not be very accurate

I saw a few sites that have had mid-May or later data (title, description, cache) in the SERPs briefly revert to mid-April data for a couple of days, on www at the beginning of the current update (and the sites dropped 50 or 60 places in the SERPs too, at that time). The new data appearing a few days ago on -fi was only a week or so old at that time, and that new data has now spread to all datacentres for those sites, and the sites are back at #1 again.

The index is in flux right now.

For my own keywords, I'm ranking #1 for several items on -fi, and dc/va. On the other hand the other data centers seem to bounce back and forth, listing my #1 site for a given keyword sometimes, and other times listing my site around #40.

The only conclusion I can draw from this is, the index is bouncing between the latest index, and an index that is several months old.

Is this still the case a month later jeyval?

I was thinking that jonrichd was correct in that it all depends on the linking site and the sites pr value.

I have a site (online at the end of March) that hasn't been freshed for many many weeks. It is at #1. At #2 is a page that points to that site, and that page has been fresh many times.

Another site, online at the beginning of May, and indexed on 2003-06-16 was freshed every single day from 2003-07-07 to 2003-07-19, but hasn't been freshed in the last two days.

I posted a new topic hours ago, but I guess it didn't make it through.... WWW-ZU is showing new content if you refresh your query a few times (I'm using allintitle)

Hi
hope iam on the right post

what i have found with cache is it was current until about 4 days ago, then tile and cache of my site reverted to title and cache of about 3 months ago so naturaly site drop out of some key words.
with google the way it is at the moment i thought that current cache and title would return in a couple of days.
but to date it hasn't.
msn and alvista are both showing current title etc

any guess as why this would be or has any one else had this problem

regards
Don
