Pr0 penalty - how long does it last?

Out of curiosity, if a website is penalized by Google (ie, dropped to pr0, or whatever it is they do), how long does that penalty generally last? Is it permanent? (I can't imagine something that draconian...)

Just wondering. My site has Pr0 but everyone keeps saying PR is messed up right now so not to worry. And I don't think I've done anything to justify a penalty. Nevertheless, if it stays 0 for too much longer I'm going to start worrying... ;)

If you site is new, then nothing should be worried.

If your site is really penalize because you are spamming. Then you need to wait AT least 1 updates if you clean up the 'dirt'.

It helps to email webmaster AT google.com and tell them you have clean up your site and ask for reinclusion.

But again, everything is in early stage and you should wait until the update complete before you do anything. My 2 cents.
