Site Optimization for Google

I've come across plenty of guides to optimizing your site for the best rankings in Google, and I've bookmarked a few of them. Now I'm ready to get down to serious optimization and I realize that I didn't save my bookmarks after my last hard drive reformat. Can anyone point me toward a good guide to optimizing for Google rankings? Also, would anyone recommend WebPosition Gold 2?

I wouldn't recommend any rank checking software since it is generally against the engines' guidelines.

You're right at the best place, Tomearm. Just go up and do a site search and scan the forums - not only the Google News forum, but Promotion and Keyword Discussion also.

I don't see how any software at all could do the job for Google optimization, since there's so much off-page involved - links, Page Rank, relationships between linked and/or associated pages, internal site linking, how links are done.

Unless it's for killer_competetive markets, it's just ordinary, plain vanilla old-fashioned, conservative optimization with the fact added that relationships between and among pages are an added factor that's heavy in importance.

There's no magic formula, just read and use the site search - it's all here.
