hello,

i am trying to get a site listed higher for a the keyword "[snip]" this is a prety popular word, but the site has a good pr (6), and comes up quite high for other combinations ("[snip]"). The word "[snip]" is used in the body copy, and in the title. Right now sites that have a pr of 0 come up for the keyword "[snip]", and my site doesn't come in the top 500. It has been around for a while, so i don't think it's because it's new.

any suggestions or answers to why pr0 sites come waaaaay ahead of my pr6 site would be appreciated.

cheers

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, seoer.

I wouldn't worry about the Toolbar PR for a while. It, and the link: search, have been showing old results (use the site search for 'Dominic' to read more).

If you were previously listed well for that word and you've dropped 500 places, then there maybe some problem. Otherwise, seeing as you've used the phrase in your title and body text I would advise you work in encouraging links from many other sites whether high PageRank or not. This normally requires adding extra content and letting other webmasters know that you exist. It helps if they link using relevant words in the link text.

Good incoming links with your keyword in the link text should help.
