I don't understand this. Why would a search result page have a higher PR? The only reason I can think of is the adword related one.
Does Google give higher PRs to pages that it's promoting through adwords? If so, isn't that a bit unfair?
I was wondering the same thin a few months back but Google informed me that even though i had been using Ad Words for several months they are in no way attributed to the sites PR value..
Even though i would have enjoyed a little extra PR from it, i understand why its not used as im sure people would use the ad words service to completely kill off small sites that need the exposure that ad words provides.
The Leveller
To be more specific:
The page I'm talking about is www.mydomain.com/search.abc
But this url is never used, as it will always be in the format of www.mydomain.com/search.abc?keyword=somekeyword
This is not any link from my site, you only get to that page by filling in a keyword and submitting the search. (In our adwords we would link directy to a certain keyword search, but that is not a link from our sites).
So looking at it, I would expect to get a grey bar, not a PR1.
I don't mind this at all btw. but I'm just very interested to how this can happen, and whether this is proof google is not really doing what they say they are doing (or not doing)?
Send me message if you're interested in seeing the site I'm talking about it.
I know google's gone all funny lately, but this reaks of adword promotion if you ask me.
