Google Directory

When does a listing in DMOZ get you into Google Directory?

I have several websites and I just got 4 of them approved into DMOZ. Thanks to the editors for approving 4/4 submissions.

I would like to know by some SENIOR member, when I can expect it to be seen in Google Directory?

Also, why don't some DMOZ / Google Directory Pages (Deep ones though), don't have a PR at all although they are linked from several places?

Probably within the next 2 months. Ignore the toolbar. Google is broken at the moment, and this extends to the toolbar PR display.

The ODP makes a new RDF dump at least several times per month, sometimes almost weekly.

Google takes a copy of this when they feel like doing so (usually about monthly), then take whatever time they like to get that information live (usually a few more weeks).

So, the short answer, as above, is probably a few months; but only Google can tell you for sure.

Rumors are that it takes about two months.

Actually, for one of my sites, the corresponding google directory cat updated today. I was listed in DMOZ in late March/early April. The update in google has data from before that time as I am not listed in the cat and a site removed a couple months ago is still there.

The google directory "updated" to data from March at the latest.

Hmm, for at least the last hour any attempted access to [directory.google.com...] or to any category that I try just stalls for 20 seconds or so before the browser gives me "The document contains no data" error message.

Thanks for all those updates. Does anybody here has experience implementing DMOZ RDF Dumps?

What all apart from the dumps do we need and how do we proceed? I would like to use it on one of my Linux Servers.

My site was there and before two-three days dropped from Google directory.

Anyone notices this.

Newman,
I wish I were as lucky as you; it has now been nearly three months that one of my sites has been listed at DMOZ, and I have never appeared even briefly in the Google directory. Another site that was removed from the DMOZ directory a couple of months ago is still there (in google directory). My category at DMOZ recently appeared in Google's serp's with cache showing a 2002 copyright. Maybe being slack at DMOZ but I tend to think it is on the Google end.

I try not to hop on the "google broken" band wagon, but search results seem to be so bad right now. And I'm not just talking about "ways in which searches will make me money" kind of thing. If you do a little digging in any way, wierd things happen.

Newman,

I too thought that I was out of the Google Directory. After getting into DMOZ, then having my site turn up in directory.google.com searches. Not sure when exactly, but maybe a week ago it was gone. My site was no longer returning from searches. Then today, I noticed in my logs that someone hit my site via directory.google.com. I followed the referrer link back, and there I was again. However, I still cannot bring up the listing via a search.

All that to say, check the actual category that you should be listed in. You may have the same problem that I do, in the directory, but not in any search results.
