What do you think?
(1) Perform keyword research before beginning your project and create your content and site map based upon what you learn about how people are actually thinking about (searching for) your products/services/information.
That will help you to (2) create a terrific Web site that intuitively leads your visitors to the tools/content/features they're already seeking.
(3) Use keywords in your titles.
(4) Get citations. Whenever possible, get other Webmasters to use your keywords in their citations of your site (links to you or backlinks).
(5) Constantly update your site, adding new content.
How important is it to have other webmasters surround your link with releveant keywords? I have been working to get backlinks, but I haven't really been concentrating too hard on getting them to place a citation...?
Also, what would qualify as a deep site? Is that based on a certain number of pages?
We just help ourselves out of those Meta tag Analyzers etc. Any use of keywords meta tag that gets us traffic?
Content Relavancy with Page Content, Title, Keywords and Description is important although.......
I don't think it matters at all what words surround the link to your site, as far as Google is concerned, but the folks at Google haven't been talking, so none of us really knows. In their paper, "The Anatomy of a Large-Scale Hypertextual Web Search Engine," Brin and Page specifically state that one of the unique features of Google is its ability to index a Web site without actually visiting it by using the anchor text in the citations to the site in quesiton. This is particularly helpful for searching for non-textual content. Some of us who have been obsessed with our industry search terms may remember a site that was recently winning for one of our top terms without a title or any content on the completely framed site - just based on the anchor text of links to the site. In that case, all Google had to go on was the anchor text, and it was enough to earn the site top ranking.
As far as your deep site question, everything is relative. I have no way of knowing what you mean when you say "deep site." There is no standard dictionary of terms that we can refer to here either. It semantics.
