Lack of "freshie" tags pages preclude the update?

Does Google stop adding fresh content before a big update?

Hey all,
I was just curious if Google not displaying the freshest pages typically comes before the start of the dance?
Any thoughts?

I think that was debunked during the last few actual updates. Check the March update threads.

One atleast the last two updates it showed the fresh date on the day the updated started. And um, the deepcrawl hasn't even started, so were atleast two weeks before an actual update, unless there doing it very differently now.
