Still Worth Making Spelling Mistakes

Search Results still lead to traffic

I read a post not so long ago stating that there is no need to make spelling mistakes for words that are commonly spelt wrong as Search Engines now have a built in spell checker.

However if Google for example can find results for incorrectly spelt words then sites containing these words will still be listed with the correct spelling suggestion at the top.

So I take it that spelling words wrongly is still alive and kicking as a SEO tactic and will be for a long time to come :)

yes, google can't return results based upon the spelling correction, because it's quite possible that you aren't looking for the corrected word. Try searching for GAIM (the very very popular *nix messenger) and you get a spelling correction to GIMP (the popular *nix graphics package). If I were looking for GAIM I'd be most annoyed if my results came up only with GIMP results.
