I think there is some problem with the Google toolbar. I noticed that when I visited sites from searching on Google all have pr0.
Maybe this is Google's way of reducing spam to declare everyone a spammer. Just joking, but what is going on?

Over here most pages get a grey bar, but some don't. Haven't found a pattern...

Quite strange. Mine is working on sites that I search for on google. Not on my other window though which has msn loaded?

I don't get it too. Even my own site only has PR on the front page, and all other pages are absent. Odd.

"I noticed that when I visited sites from searching on Google all have pr0."

For me, mostly grey bar while some white. Also I observe that those sites that still show old PR are quite old - those sites that I'm familiar with are more than 2 years old. If you access the site by typing in the URL in address bar, you'll see the PR, but not be so if clicking from the SERP in Google.

I realize the pr is still there but not when coming from Google. I think I found a reason for this.
I was looking through one of my sites that has a section on monthly updates to the site. Each month a new page is created on updates that happened that month.
Well I noticed that the January and earlier pages had a pr4 but the February, March, April pages had a pr0. So Google seems to be only showing the link information from as early as January (possibly February update). Even more importantly it is not guessing the pr for the pages that it hasn't indexed for links.
Google previous would guess that these other pages and the toolbar would show them as having a pr4 as well. The result is the pr show is the real pr. Now what about the grey bars. Well, with the removal of the guess element the toolbar at first shows a pr0 when visiting from a Google searh result. However, if you click on the links within that site you'll notice the pr is shown.

All of this gives us excellent insight into the workings of the Google toolbar and the way pr is given.

All I know is that the Goolge PR meter is seriously messed up:

Amazon.com: PR0

Need I say more?

I don't have a toolbar, but here's a theory...

Google are beginning to use the data from the tool bar to see how popular new fresh listings are. They give a new site a slight boost and if it is popular then it factors that into the pr equation. So pr begins to be valued by 'clicks in' as well as 'links in'

I know... crazy speculation......I'm sorry.
