Hi all -

Just wondering if anyone has figured how to optimize for google groups search. It (obviously) has very little to do with PageRank, since anyone can post and no post is associated with a website. I'm not even sure how much traffic groups has compared to normal google. But it seems like a good place to pick up a few good extra hits right? :) I know I use it all the time, at least for technical discussions.

Perhaps they are looking at people who have a long history of posting and who have a lot of responses to their posts? Ie, the pageRank doesn't apply to a website, but to an email address>? Perhaps the thread length matters?

Any input appreciated.

webdevsf,

You cannot optimize for google groups because google groups indexes usenet discussion forums and not sites. If you want your site to appear on google groups searches you can use adwords.

I'd also like to know. E.g. searching for my name brings up a certain post on #1 which is not the latest. Maybe they don't havy any ranking at all and just go by keyword quantity?
