Good ranking with allinxxx key1 ke2

But not with straightforward searches

Over the past 2 months I have seen my ranking go down from number 8 to 24 for: key1 key2

As of today I rank

8 for allintext: key1 key2
7 for allintitle: key1 key2
9 for allinanchor: key1 key2

Can anyone comment on the discrepancies and what I should be looking at? I am really at a loss to explain the reasons myself.

Tough one, as they're the the usual suspects I'd have checked for.
Any significant change on the site in the last 3 months?

No changes at all. I am competing in category which returns 2.7 million searches for key1 key2

I did have
key1 key2 word1 word2 word3 key1 keye in title.
I have just changed this to
key1 key2 word1 word2 word3 in title just in case Google has taken a dislike to repetitin in title. Although the allintitle results do not indicate this to be the case.

I am now down to 28 on key1 key2. That's 4 places lower then this morning.

Pretty horrific to witness such slide and have no idea what is causing it.

Jacqwo, in the last 2-3 month Google have made some huge changes in rankings and May was a real change in serps, there is still movements in the rankings.

I believe the most of us here have seen some down time in rankings and visitors, but Google is not finsh yet, I hope for a final update here in the beginnig of June, if things still look bad well then we have to make changes or try Alltheweb as a main site.

I know... Am working on alltheweb myself.

And on other ways to bringing some traffic without having to rely on the search engines and not spend the big bucks.

I am not even sure content is king with Google nowadays.
