What Update?

Nothing has changed in our world

Some are talking of an update others are not. What is going on? In my subject area nothing has changed for anyone. The same ranking order exists for all sites.

Can someone tell me what's going on?

Same here. For the last 3 months, for my KW's the same order for the top 20 spots. Only a small shift when the indexes are moving around.

aggie12thman,

A somewhat changed database did propogate across all data centers, so from a purely technical standpoint, an update did occur.

However, from a traditional point of view, one could hardly call what happened a true update. Instead, I think it is best to look at it as step 1 of a transitional phase that is not yet complete.

the best way to get a good understanding of where things are at and where they may go in the near future is to read through the Understanding Dominic [webmasterworld.com] thread.

I would have to agree with aggie12thman this was not an update. It's more like very bad everflux!

I am not whinning as I am in the top 5 for all my lower PR sites. I would just like to see something with PR and backlinks, so I can use it as a measure that I am doing something right!

Very little was "updated" so I think it's giving Google way too much credit to call it an update.

Judging by recent history, I see no reason to believe we'll get a real update this month either.

However to answer your question, we did see some changes to the datacenters which is why technically we did sort of have an "update."
