What abouy self-links?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere - I can't find it.
I'm trying to build link popularity, and so I'm looking at similar sites and finding THEIR incoming links, to get some ideas.

I'm using Google's "link:<sitename>" feature.

Many of these sites show links within their own sites in that list - which is large. My own site, which is a big one - shows NONE of these "internal links" - even though the navigation system links every single page back to the index and a varitety of other pages.

So my questions are:

1. Why don't mu internal links show up? Is it because they're not fully qualified, absolute URLs?

2. Are these internal link, recognised in Google, worth anything in terms of link popularity?

Are the links from your internal pages PR4 or above? If not they do not show on the link search.

Unlikely - the index page has a PR4, but most of the others are down at PR3 - which would explain why they don't appear.

The second part of my question still stands though - anyone know if th4ese internal links contribute to PR?

PR is passed among all pages, regardless of whether or not they are from your site or not. There is plenty of reading in these forums to explain the best way to structure your site.

More importantly, however, is the positive effect of using descriptive, anchor text links to point back to your index page.
