101 Domains

Multiple domains + different IPs = fools Google 'totally'

I would have thought that multiple widget domains (dozens) all interlinked would be easy to spot by Google automatically - but this seems not to be the case.

I've got a bunch of four word phrases being wrecked currently by a site conglomeration which brings up one relevant result out of all the spammy domains belonging to one webmaster, then lists the rest over 10 plus pages of Google at the expense of everything else.

I'ts the worst set of results for different searches I have ever seen on search returns.

Surely there must be a way Google can see this for what it is?!

Yes, multidomain approach seems to be doing well in Google at the moment.

If you think they are spamming, why not to try:

They are Starec!

This particular bunch of sites doesn't even seem to have a links exchange going on except withing the conglomeration.

It would be just irritating to see them rank 1, but because Google lists like all of them one after the other it's a major problem for that particular genre of search.

It seems to me that multiple domains when used so obviously for search returns are basically doorway pages - or rather 'doorway domains' and therefore essentially spam according to google guidelines.

It's like gun laws, you do the 'right' thing and hand it over to make the world a safer place, then that night you get a knock on te door and a gun ointed in your face and no way of dealing with it, because the criminal element isn't ever gonna play ball by the fair rules of engagement.

Googleplex needs to up the spam removal for sure, this stuff is so obvious, I'm surpised this late in the game it's working - perhaps when Dominic is laid to rest...

I am starting 5 new sites from the same IP. I sell a variety of products, but would like to have multiple sites targeting each of the main product categories.

Ex:
current site: www.everythingwidgets.com

new sites:

www.bluewidgets.com
www.electricwidgets.com
www.waterwidgets.com

etc..

Anything I should watch out for in regards to penalties. I am doing this to target different keywords, and not to flood a single keyword page.

seekanddestroy,
Do the sites appear to have the same content too?

bunch of four word phrases

USERS don't search for four word phrases that often. As the number of words go up - off page factors matter less and less. You are going to get more spam....

Chris_R,

Can you elaborate on this a little more, or point me to somewhere else it's been discussed?

Slade, that sounds like a new thread to me.

Thread locked, spam reporting is off topic as per the charter.
