An Observation

Hello,

I was doing a search on Google for my main keywords and noticed that all the main results do not include any sites index files. All the results are from sub-pages of the various sites. Has anyone else noticed this?

I know that many people are missing their index pages, but have you noticed in any search that you cant find any index page at all?

Several sites including my own have disappeared completely and to the average user these results are very poor.

Thanks (hope this makes sense!)

wow! That's wild! Would love to know the category, but following ww rules won't ask. That certainly would result in poor search results.

PollyG,

Has that not been the case in the past?

Check some searches with other keyword(s) in other sectors.

Many index pages surface tops.. IMO.

No, I can think of a few sites which are not appearing in the list of results that should be there.

I only noticed it today though - maybe it's just a glitch?

Vitaplease,

I realise that other searches are working fine, I just wanted to make the observation and wondered if anyone had noticed anything similar.

The other reason I noted this is that there are not many results for the keywords in question so it's easy to notice when quite a few have gone missing!

Hi

This could be a sign that google is indexing more internal pages and giving them more 'weight'.

Yeah its doing something with internal pages. My main page is at number one and the site map is at number 2!

I would not consider anything defnite just now.

There seems to be a different treatment of index and interior pages.

My index page is found on the words used in anchor and title only.

For other words used on the index page it is not listed but pages from other sites using those word in connections with links to my index page are.
