I'm trying to evaluate the keyword density of our site. What does Google look at the most. If a keyword is in the content, let's say 9%, does it matter the overall times it appears in the page.

In other words if the keyword "widgets" is in 9% of the page is it better or worse if it occurs 25 times vs 9% but only apearing 5 times.

I hope this isn't to confusing. It confusing me. :)

I figure that's what this forum is for. Thanks

Hi twilight47

Yes, it does matter. I got my (golden) keyword density after I found 3 totally unconnected (not the same owner) sites for the same keyword with almost identical keyword density and placement for their index and "on subject" (it is not just the index page you need to worry about) pages.

It was incredible, as they all had very similar PR and inbound anchor link text from other sites. I got lucky that day. I bet it is the formula use by Stanford Uni's web site!

If you trawl back over time on this forum, you may actually find I divulged (near enough) the %'s. And there was another thread not long before that, which gave some great pointers as to where and how often the keywords should be found.

OK, I'm on it.

It's just like getting a spying assignment from mission control. :)

Thanks for the info.
