DMOZ search is better than Google Directory Search

Any idea why Google's algo fails for the directory?

Does Google Directory search use PR for the results?

When I search dmoz for a directory search, I get all the relevant cats up top (that is, if dmoz is up! :) then some excellent responses below that.

When I do the same in Google Directory search, I have to dig and dig and dig to get what I want. I think the list of cats matching the query should go first, then the results.

Do the pros here agree with my assessment? Any ideas why?

I've notice that the page that we are listed in DMOZ is does not come up in dmoz directory search nor is it listed in the google index. Is that connected?

Also, when is the next time that the Google directory will be updated from the current ODP directory?

Does anyone know their schedule?

PLease help if you can.

I have always preferred that arrangement too. It is the strength of a directory to do it that way.

Just guessing but I imagine Google does it differently:

1. Just to look different. ;)

2. Because they _think_ like search engine guys and not like directory guys.
