Non-indexed page showing backward links!

All of my major top level pages were listed yesterday and were having a page rank of 2 and 3, as usual they were not showing any backward links. Today all of these pages are showing backward links with a gray out tool bar page rank. More surprising stuff is these pages are no more listed in google.

Had anybody else noticed something like this? what do your think is going on out there?

If these are new(ish) pages then this is perfectly normal behaviour. Do a site search on 'everflux' to see what this means.
That said, the current 'update' still seems to be far from final, and, again, it's perfectly normal for things to be changing from one minute to the next. Current consensus has it that the current datasets are from a deep-crawl that is at least a couple of months old.

Backlinks are one of the last things to 'settle down', so just sit back and watch things develop.

If you read through this thread [webmasterworld.com], you will find that GoogleGuy talks about adding backlinks and April crawl data after the new database was live at all data centers.

That has been completed, so we will be seeing quite a bit of odd things over the next week as the second phase progresses.

Thanks WebGuerrilla, That thread was really informative. All those pages are quite old and as far as I understand disappearing from the index is not due to everflux...The surprising thing is they were having a PR of 2 and 3, but now showing backward links. Can I expect a good news of getting a higher PR (may be 4 atleast ;-) )? Google shows backward links of pages which have PR of 4 and above

Once I had great astonishment for a minute or two. A new site just uploaded showed a few of backward links to its home page. Wow! The cause was - this domain name was previously in use and I didn't know this while buying it ;)

Jitesh, I used to see a few incidence that you describe before the dominic update, so I think it may not be a technical glitch.

A link partner of mine who once dominated the serp for 1-6 spots on a particular keyword by their multiple domains, got their PR6 to GREY. It aroused my curiosity very much as of why - so I checked further. Of course, none of the pages were indexed and no cache could be seen, but to my surprise -"BACKLINKS" did show up. It is a general belief that you need at least PR4 to show backlinks and grey would not show any backlinks. Then I began to realize that all their top spots were also wiped out!

Since then my quick formula to check whether a site with grey bar is banned or new, is whether they have backward links!

So I'm afraid what you describe could be a sign of being banned, but I could be wrong.

That would be very shocking for me. We employ no Spam method, no hidden text or any thing that can be called as Spam. My home page is well listed and in this update, for some of the key phrases our ranking has actually gone up.

I'll urge Googleguy to through some light on the matter.
