PageRank from counter sites

What is about the counter sites with pagerank 7-9. The Counter sites get their Pagerank mostly from the counter codes the people have in their websites. For my understanding of PageRank is this not true PageRank.

A Lot of counter sites sell PageRank to other Sites. You see it often at the bottom.

You find American counter sites with links to German travelling Sites and insurance agencies. So in German search engine listing market exists PageRank 7-8 in themes normaly nobody has the chance to get it for real. In the last months counter sites PageRank selling growth rapid.

I noticed this myself. Another example of classic PR selling.

It is crazy, german websites become PageRank from the 10 times? bigger american market. They sell it over the atlantik in this "small" market.

I think the problem is detected by google. B
ut you can see the effect from the american counter sites in germany. The only way you see it not:
Search for... and close your eyes:-)

Their are some german websites in a lot of big counter sites. What I cannot believe, why are they in so much counter sites. It makes no sens for me. They have in germany Pagerank 7-8 do they want to go on 9. Why?

Hi,

The PageRanks of German insurance websites are poisened with links from counters and guestbooks. But at least the counter backlinks lost some of their influence over the last half year. Unlike the guestbook fraction raised their influence.

In addition to counter sites and guestbooks there are a lot of other high PR sites selling link space, i.e. in Germany PHP related sites.

Insurance selling is very lucrative and very profitable, but also very competitive in Germany. Since most of the sites are using the same methods (like mentioned above) they all are more or less equal in PR and content. It's the only way to separate and rank higher.

This is a very negative (if highly relevant) way to look at the current google PR system and it's lack of topical "focus".

I suggest negative because really the crux of the discussion belongs here [webmasterworld.com].

Brett deliberately kicked the thread back up and I'm surprised that nobody took the bait. I will, but it's a heavyweight subject and don't want to get involved during office hours!
