It seems they have changed how they deal with URL's not in the database, before they used to offer the url in clickable format, now the only option is "Find web pages that contain the term".

It also seems that if you search for example.com when your domain is in the format www.example.com they fail to show the information they have.

I can see why they have done it, not sure if it serves the users better or not.

Nice spot,

Also if you type www.example.com in the toolbar it used to send you directly to the site in question (if in the database) now it shows a google page with ;

Example Web Page
You have reached this web page by typing "example.com", "example.net",
or "example.org" into your web browser. These domain names ...

Google can show you the following information for this URL:

Show Google's cache of www.example.com
Find web pages that are similar to www.example.com
Find web pages that link to www.example.com
Find web pages that contain the term "www.example.com"

I find it useful, actually -- in fact, I usually use it to find out about url's in my server logs!

It's also a neat tool to have if a certain url's server is not responding.

I can't see how removing the 'click here to go directly to the site' helps anyone. If Google has failed to index the site, the least they can do is give me a link to go there myself ;)

I'm always ending up at the Google url search, because all my browser address bars are set to do google searches if I type keywords, and so I often end up searching for a url on Google when I actually meant to just go to the site.
