That's good but the description google provides is often the first line on the page, and it's the same text for every page because it's advertisment text. The page is split into columns. The left column is for advertisments, middle the actual content, and the right just some navigation. I always use text for advertisments instead of banners because it looks nicer and text links get more click throughs in comparison.
I'd like to use PHP to check if google is the visitor and if so just display the first paragraph of the actual content of the page at the very top of the page.
Is that ok or will google be likely to ban the site for it or something?
If you have your ads down the left, have a blank cell at the top, and then in the second cell across have you main body text, then have your ads in the next row down, but so that the ads don't appear at the bottom of the page only, your main body text cell should be rowspan="2"..
This sould make the SE's think that the body text is first on the page, which it is...
