Out of all of Googles result partners, who gives your site the most traffic?
For me it would be Yahoo.
I also have a statement/question. If most of mine come from Yahoo, and if Yahoo bought Inkomi, and a transition to Inkomi on Yahoo, appears to be logical.
Then why has Google chosen this time to play with their database? Is there a correlation? Or just a really bad decission?
WGT the Inktomi aquistion. Who knows, it could be that Google are trying to keep Yahoo as a partner and needed to improve their update mechanism to convince Yahoo they should stay as primary results provider.
Inktomi already updates much more often that Google, maybe we are seeing Google attempting to level the playing field as far as update regularity is concerned and this new method will allow that to happen?
Hard to say. From GoogleGuy's posts, I dunno if Google is broken (compared to how it worked before), or they are changing the way they update. It used to be Google updated everything once a month, with some occasional freshbot finds added throughout the month. Google may be moving in the direction of Alltheweb, and update just parts of the index every 10 days or so. It also occurs to me the old way of Google updating may not be scaling well with the explosion of the number of web pages, so they need to change how they do it to cope. Having to calculate PR for every page once a month might be a challenge as hundreds of millions of new web pages keep coming online every few months.
