I've seen it mentioned that -cw is for Cable & Wireless. Is that true and could that explain why I get newfangled results at home with a cable connection and the old index at work a mile away? Both are with local companies. The consistency is pretty obvious at the two locations although both occasionally give a result from the opposite index.
If I click on the smiley voting button for all -in results, will that help?;)

Naturally, I'm at home now and consistently getting the old index on cable. Oh well.

"Cable and Wireless" is a telecoms company.

I was wondering the same exact thing. Some of these posts have really got confusing as of late.

Damn right it's confusing! First we have this decidedly "odd" Dominic update, then google breaks out all these country-specific google news pages i.e. newsgoogle.com.au, news.google.co.uk, news.google.co.nz etc, then since yesterday google is deciding what results I am permitted to see based on OS and location... refer to [webmasterworld.com...] ...

Maybe google has engineered a backroom takeover of the Voice of America! :) Or visa versa.
