In my quest to discover what has gone awry for my main two keywords on my main site I decided to click on the similar pages link in the serps. It seems my site, which is about a service in a particular location is now similar to network administration and other computer related stuff. On the -in index it is still similar to the service in my particular location. Could this be the cause of a problem or more likely a symptom. To the best of my knowledge, none of the sites I have gained links from are associated with any of the strange categories I am now similar to. About half of the results are from pages that I actually am similar to.

Hey Powdork, GoogleGuy has said it lotsa places and many of the senior members have repeated it. In essence, Google is in the middle of a major update and change to the way they "process pages" and present results. You're looking at "half baked" results and all you can draw from them are "half baked" conclusions. Chill! :)

WebGuerilla just updated the Understanding Dominic post at [webmasterworld.com...]
Have a look!

DaveatIFG,
GoogleGuy also said that "I think the shorter answer would be that if you're showing well at datacenters like sj/cw/fi, I wouldn't worry much about what the PR says."
My site is not showing well at all after last night. I am trying to find out why. The fact that Google thinks a site is similar to something it isn't is relevant to this forum in my opinion. Discussing it may also lead to some indication as to how they are processing those pages.
Besides, I keep thinking that at some point I will ask the magic question and GoogleGuy will have no choice but to give me the algo and the keys to the 'Plex.;)
