Google using some strange domain names

Alphahu = Google? ¦ Vanislewindows = Google?

Recently I did a reverse lookup for Google.com, and I found some interesting domains all hosted on the same server as Google.com (and all serving up Google interfaces).

Does anybody here know the story behind these other domains?

At a guess could it simply be that the sites in question are redundant but still pointing at their old ip which has now been taken over by google?

If google.com is the main domain on the server, any domain you point at that ip will bring up google...

Maybe somebody is using it as a nasty trick, ie get google to crawl the domain, while its pointing at google, and therefore get a good pagerank or something stupid like that.

I was curious about vanislewindows, a company here in Victoria BC.

The domain is still owned locally (exp. Aug '04), and another of the owner's domains, bisi.ca (exp. March '05), also results in a Google interface.

All listed are running GWS/2.0 - the Google Web Server.

I don't know. Does Google rent local space?

Interesting about the numbered domain for wireless users.

So, does anybody have any other ideas about the purpose of, or the story behind these domains?
