I recently moved my domain and ecommerce site to a new hosting company and have just found out that the previous user of the IP I was allocated has in place an IP redirect which has resulted in my site being mirrored at their URL. They have a PR2 and I am worried that google will ban for duplicate content. My host has removed the IP from my domain and once the DNS updates my site should be vissible again.

In the mean while there is the possibility that my site will be banned fore duplicate content and the faraudulant site could be appearing in listings with my name and descriptions.

The DNS updates in 8 houres please advise should I slap on a google no follow in the robot text or is there some way of contacting google.

Any help appreciated

Mike

hi mike,

here is my opinion:

your post is really confusing, hard to understand really what happened.

It sounds like maybe a host booboo with DNS somewhere and that is has been corrected. If (or when) your site is "back up" and the host DNS is pointing it to the right IP (your web site), than why would you than want to tell Googlebot to go away?. At that point you want Googlebot to come and stay awhile. Especially if there had been some mixup for a period of time. If Google got confused by what happened, in time it will figure it out.

If and while your domain name is not resolving anywhere, Googlebot would go nowhere but away. So while that is the case robot.txt is irrelevant.

However, maybe I for one misunderstand your question, as well.

hope it helps
