PR calculations - have they started?

Anyone sporting a new PR or know when coming?

I'm not expecting my PR to change too much this month, so it's difficult to know whether anything's happening!

Anyone noticing a change or know when to expect PR to be calculated. This update's taking forever!#

I would suggest you take a look at the last 100 threads in the google forum [webmasterworld.com], and i think you will find your answer a few times over.

yes change your host file, add

216.239.35.100 toolbarqueries.google.com

and you will see your page rank. I am a 6 again after being a 5 for a month. Yuk, I felt like a pleb ;)

for windows: open windows explorer and do a search for hosts edit this file and insert a line with
216.239.35.100 toolbarqueries.google.com
and save it.

for linux: edit the file /etc/hosts with the same information

i noticed a website where www.domain.com has a pr0 yet sub pages had pr6, is this usual?

and you will see your page rank.

what happens wjhen you do this? what does it do to your server? How does it then let you see your PR?

I get PR0!

This doesn't seem right!

Can't see why I'd have a penalty.

I think this is showing old PR value based on the fact that my site only got PR in April update.

Anyone else think the same/ different?

Yes, I'm seeing some 0 Pageranks at the moment on some sites. But I wouldn't worry about it for the moment until the whole thing has settled.

Heck, two of my sites are not even ranked by Google...

Two things I notice: A site I visit every so often has a redirect from a .html (pagerank 6 on that) page to a .shtml page and this is now showing pagerank 0..... Also - has the dreaded cross-linking filter been boosted up this month too?

Just picked up someone else in another thread with the same issue: new site with recent PR showing PR0 on SJ/FI only.

Will surely come out in the wash?

You can either see the PR from last month, using the default numbers, or plug in the number above from the -sj index and see the PR from *two* months ago. If you plug in the -sj numbers and you have a site put up in the past three months, you will likely see a PR0.

The toolbar isn't showing anything regarding the current changes. You can either see "old" or "older", your choice.

<edit... the current toolbar numbers are from the botched March deepcrawl, so the -sj ones are probably less incorrect for most established sites. New sites have nothing to look at.>

Number above cannot have the pagerank from two months ago, as I was well ranked back then - site is over 12 months old and has always been between 5 and 6. Doesn't explain a sudden lack of rank and 0 pagerank on other pages....

I think we saw this sort of thing happen last update, where MSN were periodically PR0.
So nothing to worry about yet.....but this ones different and no dance at all yet

IMHO check your keyword phrases rather than PR, if dramatic then worry...or be happy.

I'm starting to get an increase in PR on my main pages, then a few minutes later it changes back. It's in a flux for me. Looks like the calcs are beginning to happen.

Also the -sj index is moving in and out of www now so meaningless PR changes will also be popping in and out.

As usual at times like this, I find the toolbar PR to be somewhat flaky - returning results for page 1 when I'm already on page 2 (when going from 1 to 2).

Just sit back and chill... create some content... and spend some time with your family.

I've seen a recent change in PR for a competitor site. He's gone to a grey PR bar in the toolbar, and has been dropped from the index for the few search terms I've tried. That's current PR from the toolbar default server, btw. Additionally he's out on searches both for www and www2 and www3.

Yeeeeehaaaaaaah! Especially so because this competitor has used some fairly dodgy methods and pulled some nasty stunts on friends in our niche community.

Ok. I chekced my site PR with them.
I fond 216.239.35.100 is too old to use, it showes the PR of last month.
216.239.33.100 is new, I see the PR on 216.239.33.100 is newer than 216.239.35.100.
You can use

216.239.35.100 toolbarqueries.google.com
to check your new PR and wish a good luck!

Sorry for the newbie question, but does the toolbarqueries thing only work if you have Google toolbar installed? (I'm running mac system X.2)

Seems kind of a pain that I have to leave the house and use someone else's computer to look at page rank . . .

The MAC users should get somebody with Windoze to visit a site with the toolbar installed, check the folder Temporary Internet Files and get the "ch" value from a string that starts ...
search?client=navclient ....

You can then get the PR for that site with an URL like this, replacing the ch and domain names first ...
[toolbarqueries.google.com...]

If you replace the &features=Rank parameter with the following it also gives you the Google directory category ...
&features=Rank:FVN

If you omit the &features=Rank parameter altogether you get an XML feed, which I believe was used with earlier versions of the Toolbar.

The answers, so far as anyone here knows them so far, are in the thread. You can be sure that, when we get a new set of PageRank and backlinks on one of the servers, it will be announced in this forum very soon after.
