Where are my links?

Google links are about 1/2 what they used to be

I'm totally confused about this new google directory. I have worked for months on getting links to my site and it was just starting to pay off. Until now. It seems like I have about 1/2 of the amount of links I used to and a bunch are not even showing up. I had just put a site live about 45 days ago with a link in the footer. It is now finally in google but google does not show the link to me. I also put a press release on my site linking to this new site and although the new site got indexed, it did not pick up the link from our site to that one and we have a page rank of 6.

I guess my questions are: "What is up with this update?" "Where are my damn inbound links going?"
